One of so many linguistic miracles in the Quran

The knowledge of the names and their meaning in the Quran

Something people didn’t realize until many centuries after the Quran was revealed

[a thread🧵]
1- Ishmael peace be upon him

Ishmael means “God will hear”

There is a relation between God hearing and Ishmael and we can see that in the Quran when Ishmael is mentioned
2- Isaac and Jacob peace be upon them

Isaac means “laughter”

Jacob means “to follow, to be behind”

When Sarah “laughed” we got Isaac

after him is Jacob and the literal translation of the Quran would be

“from behind Isaac is Jacob”

Of course Jacob is the prophet after Isaac
3- The angel Gabriel peace be upon him

Gabriel means “God is my strength”

We see that “strength” has a relation with Gabriel and it’s mentioned clearly in the Quran

Gabriel is the angel who came to the prophet Muhammad pbuh
The mention of Gabriel in the Quran
4- Zechariah peace be upon him

His name means

“the lord has remembered”

and God remember him and reminded the people of his mention in the Quran

The same word used in the Quran “ذكر" can also mean remember
5- yahya or John the Baptist pbuh

His name means “YHWH is gracious”

And God mentioned that in the Quran when describing John, God said “حنان” or “Hanan” which can mean “gracious”

“Hanan” is mentioned once in the Quran and it’s about John the Baptist

Hanan = yohanan/John
I struggled because of the many different translations of the Quran giving their own interpretation of the words, it’s much more clear in Arabic.
