I broke down the cost of selling on http://Amazon.com  vs. http://Walmart.com  vs. http://eBay.com  vs. our own website.
Here's an explanation for what's driving the cost differences between the marketplaces for e-commerce sellers.

Our website is a great deal less expensive because there are no commissions and shipping per unit is way lower (people make large purchases there, driving down cost).
There's a good bit about review inflation on Amazon.
There are a few interesting general e-commerce observations in the article as well.
