I’ve asked @Stylesfor32 directly on here about what other cities (if any) are using LPRs for this purpose. No response, but when pushed, she did acknowledge in a Community Oversight Board mtg that she doesn’t know of any.

Police reps have made it clear in #MetroCouncil committee meetings that LPRs really wouldn’t be helpful for this purpose. They want LPRs for other reasons (which they can’t seem to agree on).

Simply put, this bill, which CM Styles calls a “pilot program,” WILL NOT FIX the issue of drag racing and reckless driving. What it WILL do is open a can of worms that I fear this current class of #MetroCouncil members would happily use as justification to install LPRs citywide.
