Seems to me that if you found a country that was more about power than democracy, then it’s not shocking when people are so willing to suspend democracy in order to preserve power.

Also worth noting that the only known successful coup d’état in American history occurred in Wilmington, NC in 1898 when white supremacists overthrew a duly elected bi-racial government and the country responded by nationalizing white supremacy in the law.

Just to be clear: The long-standing pattern in this country is white “progressives” sacrificing Black rights and/or being willing to look the other way, joining with those who suspended democracy and defiled the Constitution, all in the name of national unity. Frightening truth.
