TYLER HERRO BREAKDOWN THREAD:

The Heat’s second-year guard is averaging 16/6/4 through five games and boasts a scoring package that was put on full display in the bubble last season. He’s also developing as a ball handler & distributor.

12 clips from this season. Let’s roll!
Herro doesn’t get trapped very often but against the Magic, he was able to find Bam twice. They have a good chemistry that I’ll bring up a bit later in the thread. Herro’s at his best as a passer when he’s reacting in tough situations, IMO
He’s still learning how to navigate crowded areas and although he’s 6’5, he can still get himself into trouble around the rim. He can’t quite connect with Precious here off the PNR action, but did a better job doing so in the next clip
I don’t worry about Herro when he runs low on space to maneuver like I do with a bunch of other young players.

Dances his way towards the baseline and Precious comes off the screen & gets in position for a pass and easy finish. Great job by both guys
He’s made a few passes like this one in 2020-21 and isn’t afraid to whip the ball over his head to the open man. Pretty simple but he puts good velocity on the ball and can do it with either hand. Solid in that regard and doesn’t get tunnel vision — a plus for sure
This is the play I like the most... before we move on to scoring. Little DHO action with Bam — Herro’s threat of pulling a shot puts Adams in no man’s land and it’s a quick lob pass to Bam for the flush. This is easy money for a duo that’ll hopefully be together for years to come
I wish Herro was more aggressive in the fast break. He has the potential to get much better there. Receives the ball at half court and weaves his way to the rim for a soft finish. My next clip will highlight an even better one
Another half court drive here. Steven Adams is a big ass dude & does a good job keeping up with Herro and making him uncomfortable but it doesn’t even matter.

High finish off the glass with some contact. Chef’s kiss for this one 🤌🏻👨🏻‍🍳
Even though it’s a miss, I wanted to include this clip of what his step back looks like. He also has a side-step three he uses every once in a while. Fluid motion and if he can work on maintaining his balance and not rushing then I think it’ll be a legitimate threat when needed.
This is an example of why Heat fans are so excited about Tyler Herro.

Takes the defender off the dribble, makes him think he’s driving and then steps into the really tough jumper and cans it. Beautiful basketball here from such a young player
Completely shakes off *Jrue Holiday* here and nails the midrange jumper. The middie J is a controversial topic but for guys like Herro, I wouldn’t bet against him developing a consistent one — especially if he can create space like this with his handle or off of ball screens.
Pat Connaugton doesn’t even play bad defense here late in the shot clock... it’s just Herro improvising and making stuff happen w/ the floater.

Herro’s ability to imorov/freestyle is underrated. When things break down (like late in the clock) he can put the ball in the basket.
Last clip. Poor Dwight Powell. No chance here and a tough shot on the snatch-back three by Herro. Relatively late in the clock here as well.

He has the tools to be a really good scorer in this league, in my opinion. Crafty, smart, quick (enough). Final thoughts on next tweet.
Herro’s defense will probably never be a +. If he can be neutral on that end, though, that’s good enough.

He’s not a point guard but can run an offense in spurts and is improving there. Very talented scorer. Quite possibly a future All-Star at least once, the rest is up to him.
This is my second breakdown thread, let me know if you guys like (or hate) them and reply/DM me with any suggestions or recommendations. They’re a bit time-consuming but I really have fun doing them. Thanks for reading and watching.
