1/3 Today's data on NHS hospital beds occupied by confirmed COVID-19 patients continues to be really worrying and shows how difficult this is now becoming for NHS. Two things to note. 1. Very large increases overnight for London, SE and E (+8%, +6% and 5% in just ONE day)
2/3 2. But, now, worrying looking daily increases further afield: +8% in NW and +7% in SW. As we have argued elsewhere, NHS hospital trusts in Midlands and North still have significant numbers of inpatients from the Autumn COIVD-19 second surge.
3/3 This all looks very different to just four months ago in September. Government needs to think very carefully, and very quickly, about strengthening restrictions on social contact and its approach to return to school.
