So a little reminder for my fellow white cis peoples out there, when you have a take be REAL cognizant of who shows up to weigh in on that take. Look at the profiles, the likes, and who is on your side. If you find that you are on the same side of the argument as asshats...
intent doesn't fucking matter. If you have a toxic or harmful take, it's often easy to tell by the other people (who look just like you), showing up to get your back. If you DO value diversity and people with privilege, and they show up telling you that you have a bad take...
Guess the fuck what? YOU HAVE A BAD TAKE. Apologize, stop defending yourself, and go try to figure out how your line of thinking got you to that bad take. Just recanting isn't enough. You got to that take somehow. If you don't want a repeat incident, you HAVE to figure why...
The best way to do that isn't to talk. It's NEVER to talk. It's to listen. Listen to the people harmed by your bad take. Follow them. Listen to them, listen to their friends. Look at the people they like, follow, and RT. Listen to THOSE people too. It's not quick; it is simple
Shut the fuck up and listen. Work on your problematic thinking and maybe you'll learn something. That is all. /end
