There are many dressmakers out there who claim to be bookmakers.

They limit many customers and give excuses like:

“You’re a steam player”
“You’re not an originator”
“You only bet us when we’re off”

Let me break down this standard dressmaker bullshit excuse (1/x)
As a bettor, we pay vigorish in the form of -110.

In paying that price, we enjoy the advantage of deciding what we would like to bet. We can either bet a line or pass.

The bookmaker gives us a menu, and we choose which items, if any, we would like to buy (2/x)
In this bettor/bookie contract, only the selection is required. The reasoning why a bettor places a bet is meaningless. For comparison, If I go to steak house and order the salmon, it would be ludicrous for the waiter to ask me why I choose the salmon (3/x)
Maybe the salmon was on sale.
Maybe I don’t like steak.
Maybe I like foods that end with the letter N.

The why is my business.

A bookmaker who bitches doesn’t treat their business as a marketplace and is using their inability to know “why” as an excuse.

Real Bookmakers hang lines to write bets on those lines. They classify their clientele and move lines as they see fit. They are talented enough to use all types of bettors to their advantage. They don’t bitch and moan and blame the player for their failure to move a line.
(5/x)
A bookmaker who complains about steam is incompetent and shouldn’t be called a bookmaker.

Instead of accepting and embracing the fact that there are customers who shop, they only want dummy customers who lay -7.5 when the world is painted -7 (6/x)
In closing to all you dressmakers disguised as bookmakers:

Hang a number to take a hit. If you are upset about a customer betting a certain number, you shouldn’t have had that number hung!

If you can’t handle the action go make dresses instead (7/x)
