I'm hearing from teachers and parents across the province who are struggling to figure out how to make this coming week work.

If in-class learning is resuming for elementary on January 11th, I question the point of the additional stress and confusion. #onpoli 1/8 https://twitter.com/Sflecce/status/1345732401033580545
We've had 3 cases of #COVID19 associated with our school. Siblings of children asked to isolate are still allowed to attend, and our kids (6 & 10) realized how quickly this could go wrong when their friends continued to come to class while siblings had to stay home. 2/8
There have been no changes to ventilation in our kids' classrooms. The solution is to leave windows open, and it's cold. Ventilation was part of promised spending in the summer for a safe return to school. #onted #onpoli 3/8
Education workers are burned out and we have to take this seriously. We're asking too much from people who are already stretched thin and this isn't sustainable. The end is coming, but we still have months to go. The choices ahead need to be both practical and compassionate. 4/8
I'm hearing from teacher after teacher, parent after parent unsure how to deliver what's expected of them this week while also managing their own children's schedules.

Most people don't have access to childcare in a pandemic. This week will be incredibly difficult for many. 5/8
They're telling us this is safe and we know that while our ed workers have gone above & beyond under impossible circumstances, little has changed.

It's regular school with regular class sizes, additional cleaning, distancing as able, & imperfect mask wearing. #onted #onpoli 6/8
While failing to recognize the probability of asymptomatic spread occurring in schools and continuing not to test most kids, we're likely missing where a lot of cases are coming from. We know our testing and tracing simply isn't doing what we need it to, provincewide. #onpoli 7/8
Yes, learning must continue, even during a pandemic.

But the current plans for learning continue to miss on safety, practicality, and understanding for how Ontario families and educators are managing right now.
