Saw some 20-somethings having a house party last night. I should be outraged, but honestly I can't really blame them.

Hear me out:
1. These 20-somethings might work in "essential" jobs like in grocery stores or coffee shops. Their roommates (because, lets be honest, it's Toronto rent we're taking about) also maybe work in these jobs. So, as far as they're concerned they're being exposed to Covid daily.
2. Because they're being exposed daily in jobs, they're probably not seeing their older parents or grandparents. It's unlikely these young 20-somethings have kids, either.
3. These jobs they have pay them very little and they don't get danger pay, but they're told they're "essential." They probably don't have health benefits. They may feel bc of their work, they're already exposed and no one really cares about their health, so why should they care?
4. And, the privileged people they see on the news -- politicians, predominantly -- are off on vacations and having gatherings, so why should they bother being isolated when they're already exposed and their friends and roommates are too? Just gather and party.
I wouldn't do it, but I don't blame them given the situation.
