I finished Higurashi chapter 1 last night and had a great time with it. It feels so nice to be making my way through a Ryukishi work again. There's nothing quite like it and it really fills me with excitement that I could find myself with another favourite

The most interesting thing to me about Higurashi is the choice between Oyashiro's curse and human culprits as the explanation for the phenomena happening in Hinamizawa. It's very reminiscent of the magic vs humans debate of Umineko and I'm curious how Higu will handle it

The core cast in Higu is also really great and I enjoyed the early SoL segments to flesh them out and see them interact. Higu is shaping up to be one of those series where the core cast are all best friends and I'm excited to see that. Mion and Rena are my early favourites

Higu chapter 1 also did a really great job of building tension for the horror mystery. There's this underlying sense of unease that slowly builds throughout the chapter, before it all goes down in the later parts. Kept me on the edge of my seat

Anyways, I'll be jumping into Higu 2 right away and I'm looking forward to it. Here's my current WTC tier list, I thought it would be fun to update this as I made my way through Higu
