The wolf tells kanan that he won't make it
Hera crashes down, Kanan knows that she's alive. He goes back to the city to save her but the wolf stops him. It only says "Dume"
And after a moment, Kanan responds with "I understand"
It's really final. Feels like a conclusion

Mart and Chop make it out, Hera gets captured. Kanan helps them out of the sewers and chop tells him something, kanan responds
"I know she did. There is nothing you could have done. But I can"
"I know she did. There is nothing you could have done. But I can"
He already knew what happened to Hera. Somehow the wolf told him. He knows that he can help but it will cost his life, but because he loves Hera more than anything he will do it
He's aware that this is the last time he'll ever go on a mission. He cuts his hair, leaves his mask to the cave. He knows deep down that he's not coming back
Maybe he does try to keep himself hopeful, tell himself that the wolf was wrong. But a part of him has already accepted the fact that this is what will happen. So they go in, save hera, stuff happens
Then, on the fuel pod it's all soft and he forgets about the wolf completely. And then, boom.
And that's when he fully steps in, accepting his fate. He fully becomes the jedi he was always meant to be. He chooses the moment he goes out and does it in peace

If you think about where kanan started this is the most beautiful ending ever. He goes from THE bottom to being a true jedi, also showing us how loving someone doesn't stop you from being one. It can only make you stronger
This is also why I think that Kanan having such a prominent role in TROS was important since the situation was so much about finding strenght from loved ones. Who knows more about it than him? Who does it more succesfully while being the epitome of a jedi?t
The point? Kanan chose his own fate to protect his family, the one person he loved most. And without him even knowing it, also his own son. If that's not the most jedi thing ever then what is?
This is just me trying to mend my emotional wounds and creating theories/headcanons let me suffer through my pain in peace please

Also you're allowed to disagree i just really got there vibes from the random wolf appearence when i rewatched!!
Since i finally rewatced the jedi night and dume i'll add
He knew. He literally told ezra "you pay attention to things around uthat will help you in the future" or something like that and ezra was just like whut?? And he told them "may the force be with u" before parting ways

And the dume wolf just shows how kanan continued to live on in the force, ezra literally senses his presence with the wolf appearing
So at the end it's, as someone said "peace and purpose" but AAAAARHDJFJD WHY
