Myeloma patients should be outraged today. @bmsnews raised price of Revlimid & Pomalyst by 4.5%-almost 4x inflation. For pharma apologists who say list doesn't matter-67% of Americans pay some or all of their cost based on list. My oop will jump from $996 to $1,041 every 28 days!
Price increases are not to cover rebates: "Celgene paid no negotiated discounts to Medicare Part D plans, and the largest discount it paid in the commercial market was only 5%." https://oversight.house.gov/sites/democrats.oversight.house.gov/files/Celgene%20BMS%20Staff%20Report%2009-30-2020.pdf
Drugs aren't better than they were last year. Not about R&D. House Oversight: "Pricing decisions made by executives were driven almost exclusively by the need to meet revenue targets and shareholder earnings goals." This is about milking old drugs for higher profit & bonuses.
Drug corps like @BMSnews exploit patients, consumers and taxpayers because we let them get away w/ it. They raise prices because they can. We need direct govt negotiations for lower prices that will extend to private sector as in HR 3. It's time for Biden Admin & Congress to act.
