One has to raise an eyebrow towards the fact that “joint military exercises” are being conducted in the Arctic.

It seems the United States is interested in helping develop this Arctic regions, establishing both independence & mutual trade.
Unlike China/Russia, who would likely look to simply occupy the region for themselves over time.
