When we know that Covaxin is effective in generating the immune system response and cases are surging and Covishield volume isn't enough, then it is better to use an almost fully tested vaccine than let frontline staff remain unvaccinated! https://twitter.com/timesofindia/status/1345677047729803265

If we have a vaccine #covaxin which seems fairly well tolerated so far (compare with Pfizer) , should we not be open to giving it to frontline staff like police or municipal workers whose exposure is super high and in case Covishield fails for newer mutations?
Do we know how many police personnel have died to Covid nationwide? How many more must be at risk because we wait for perfect data?
Understand--Covaxin is an option. Not the frontline choice. https://pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetailm.aspx?PRID=1685761

Again, it is not compulsory, it is merely govt saying we have another weapon which we will hand out if the primary one is inadequate
I don't see what the brouhaha is, frankly
Whats the alternative? Fiery tweets by Shri @ShashiTharoor which will protect frontline staffers?
