Lots of people, generally. try to stop drinking at this time of year. I hope you succeed. The 1st drink is an important one. If you don't have the 1st one then you don't continue on into oblivion.
I know I found it hard to understand the simplicity of the 1st drink! I thought that the answer was some sort of medical explanation, maybe with a vaccine or something, that had to be administered to relieve me of my problem, but no, it wasn't.
It really was about the 1st drink tho! If I stayed away from the 1st drink for 1 day at a time, then I would stay sober every single day that I did that! Weddings, Funerals, Football games, nights out etc,
if I didn't take the 1 st drink at any of these occasions then I would wake up the next day still sober! I learned all about this at the AA meetings that I attended at the start of my sober journey, and still do attend.
I went on to learn lots and lots about myself by participating in the 12 Step programme of recovery, but none of this would happen unless I stayed away from that 1st Drink!
If you're going to give up drink or have just started your journey, go to plenty of AA meetings and get to know folk, by taking their Tel. no. and calling them when your struggling. Or even on here on Twitter,
Follow folk who you think can help you and message them also when things are getting out of hand. Don't suffer in silence! You can stop, sure it's not easy, but doing certain things make it a whole lot easier! Upwards and Onwards, Keep on Keeping On!
