The woman married a person,got educated with her, got the help of her friends for further education and made hereself capable of teaching children including girls. Opened a girls school with her husband and friend Sagunabai at Bhide Wada Maharashtra in 1848 ,it was revolutionary
at that time and the number of schools exapnded to 3 within three years. The duo established 2 Education trusts for women and the children of few marginalised communities which are running even today. For belonging to so called lower caste ,she was ousted from her home along with
her husband for going against the 'Brahmanical' texts . She used to carry two sarees her because getting welcomed with dung, verbal abuse and even stones was common for her because it was a sin to get educated as a lower caste and a higher sin of educating so called LCs and girls
in a Manuwadi and Brahminwadi India.
She wrote the poem 'Go get educated' in 1852 along with the literary works named - Kavya Phule and Bavan Kashi Subodh Ratnakar. Apart from that she along with his husband was the first Indian to open a shelter home for widows in India who
otherwise were forced to Sati themselves upon the death of their husbands. They opened a shelter home for pregnant widows and created a safe haven for them. In late 1890s the world faced the third Bubonic plague and the women carried a child on her back to the hospital ,caught
Plague and died at the age of 66 in 1897
The women I am talking about,as most of you have already guessed,is none other than Savitribai Phule. Today is her 190th birth anniversary.
