there are very few young journalists in kashmir who actually are dedicated & sincere towards their work.
most of them are out there reporting because kashmir is what helps to build portfolios, & gather fellowships.
understand the sensitivity and work, kashmir is not your resume

most of the young journalists in Kashmir usually recycle the old already published works and club it with other stories and create something under the pressure of deadlines. very few understand the sensitivity of the issue.
I know few journalists who literally use field work as a day off and enjoy. There's no sincerity and sensitivity involved, some even create their own quotes and at the end of the day be like - "look, I did some conflict journalism".
But don't they understand that there are actually people who know them. We see the people you follow, the people you like and comment on. You can't have a triple personality. Irl you be professional, on twitter "kashmeeeeerrrr
" and on ig "omg, beautiful activism pheran
".

It's not a debate of calling out anyone in particular, but it's a general suggestion. Introspect. Journalism is a very noble profession. Respect it.
You can't just overlook distortions just because your friends do it, and later go on to write about conflict.

Lately, storytellers and journalists in Kashmir are so much involved in distorting reality that it makes me sad. You are friends with abusers, facilitators and next day you are reporting about mental health or conflict. This is humiliating.
This is not a generalization. Our journalists are very brave, it's not easy to work in conflict zones. But for the very few (actually quite a significant) if you are reading this. Ask yourself, how can you be friends with abusers and at the same time write about mental health?
We are in this together. All of us. Understand where to be bold and cut ties. Know where to draw boundaries. If not us, someone else might point it out someday that if you yourself were the perpetrator, how could you be the Messiah at the same time.
This is not for anyone in particular. But if the shoe fits you, go on wear it.
