A lot (!) has been said about this already, but, like everyone else on Twitter, I think my opinion is *very* important...

It’s disappointing to see just how sanctimonious, self-righteous, & snide #medtwitter continues to be following the @EveryDoctor media leak shitshow.
A lot of valid questions have been raised by folk with good intentions (& countered with a lot of unnecessary blocking), but equally there’s been a lot of faux pearl-clutching & grand-standing...
Popular Twitter docs have openly complained that a new upstart has more followers than they do.
Those with professional links to the BMA, HSJ, etc, etc, have been quick to mock - but perhaps less keen to accept that the shortcomings of their own organisations (real or perceived) are why new ones are popping up.
Most have rolled their eyes at someone having the temerity to sell merchandise, when the Colleges are happy charging for ties, scarves, paperweights & *checks notes* supermarket trolley key rings...
And the usual threats of GMC/NHS employer/NHS Fraud involvement have sadly arisen, as ever - & from some who should *really* know better (having complained about vexatious referrals themselves repeatedly).
At the same time there has been almost *no* discussion of the circumstances surrounding the leaked email: namely, that NHSE have centralised & ‘controlled’ their comms to the extent that healthcare journalists have accused them of ‘silence’, ‘bullying’, & called for a HSC review.
Leaks are inevitable whenever the official media line doesn’t match the reality on the ground. And so they should be.

It’s a shame if this makes anyone’s job harder, day-to-day - but this mess is the making of those who seek to hide how bad things are, not those who reveal it.
Are we *really* agitating for a system where doctors privately acknowledge (in the strongest possible terms) that their hospitals cannot deliver safe, high-quality, care - and then ostracise those who try to speak out?
Irrespective of any of the rest of it - schoolyard SoMe nonsense, ‘grifting’ vs. making an income for work done, & questions of who speaks for who in 2021 - is this who we want to be?
This concludes my TED talk on why we are all horrible people.

I look forward to learning about my own failings as a doctor, husband, father, UK citizen, and human-being in the comments to follow.
(Because this has all made Twitter horrible, the NHS currently looks horrible, & I am anticipating more horribleness to follow - here is an amusing video I found. PS the dog is fine).
