I’m still thinking about this,
so here’s a thread of my thoughts as a young fanartist
(i am 16, i mainly draw mcyts and kpop idols) https://twitter.com/tubboec/status/1345575574673137666

disclaimer i genuinely don’t expect people to read this
The tweet basically said that he has a young audience and that he is exploiting young artists who will spend lots of time working on art to receive nothing in return
The only issue is that? That doesn’t make sense

To me, as a young artist, we’ve never been promised anything in return for our FANART and the effort that we put into it. It was all optional and for fun, I’ve spent hours on fanart pieces for fun knowing full well that CC’s may never see them and that I would not gain anything
In exchange for it,
That’s how fanart works, they are (most of the time) not commissions
It’s just a prompt

It’s one thing to be promised something in exchange for your work and not receive it, but it’s another to be given a prompt with no promise and for you to draw it and not get paid
this being said i do 100% see the main persons perspective on it, and i understand why she might be upset
i just think the way it was handled was harsh and unnecessary

maybe not 100% but yeah u get my point
