Let's talk about discovering side hustle ideas - a #THREAD.
Ideas are a dime a dozen, but like writer's block, it can be daunting needing to think about something to do.
We'll talk about monetization and viability in another thread ;)

1. What evokes emotion? Andrew Mason was disgusted with the battle to cancel cellphone contracts. He leveraged the idea of "mass action" to create Groupon.
Think about what you love.
Think about what frustrates you.
Think about what makes you angry.

2. Our passions - For what will you get up at 03.00 in the morning to do with a smile? We all have things we enjoy doing - we tinker those ideas, we tweak them, and we talk about them.
Remember: you will need to spend loads of time on this, so don't pick a drag!

3. Talents and abilities - Align these with your ideas. If you cannot cook, don't consider becoming a chef. Write all these down.
Compare them.
Link them.
Consider what you have at your disposal.

4. Network - Be careful here. You can advertise your services, but you're competing with big spenders. Consider who you have in your network and how you can capitalise on their needs and wants.
Grow your network and keep your ear on the ground about their frustrations and needs!

5. Resources - consider what you have at your disposal. If you can create websites, have magwinya ingredients available or have a car to Uber - you have something to work with.
Be careful not to over extend yourself.
This is what people do that give equity away in their companies

6. Stop the excuses and do something.
7. Experiment - if you're not sure about what you want, why not experiment to refine what you want to offer? If you love chilli sauces, why not make loads of small batches and give them out to family and friends to get their opinion?
8. Research - do a couple of Google searches and interact with people on Twitter. Did you know the DM of most influencers and people are open and they will respond?

9. Don't go too specific. Start broad and narrow it down. For example, if you want to do coding, don't specialise straight away in AI and nayope simulation.
10. Find ways to learn what customers want.
Your idea is cool, but you need to find a "product/market fit". This is a fancy term to explain that your idea must be wanted.
Your first idea will most probably fail, and that's okay.
As long as you learn from it!

11. Keep an ideas journal. Carry it with you everywhere. Write observations down for a month.
Or two.
Or three.
Don't tell me you don't have great ideas. You just forget them really fast. Listen to what people complain about. There's room for hustle in there somewhere!

12. Don't be overtaken by the negativity of others. We all have that relative, friend or mashonisa that wants control of our lives - the tell us we will never make it.
Avoid those types of people.
They are dream killers.
