When I first called Mount Sinai in October to make an appointment at their post-covid care center & found out I had to wait a whole ass 5 months, I thought it was ridiculous but made the appointment anyway & figured I would cancel it since I'd be back to normal by March.
And now I'm two months out & it's crazy to think that I'm relieved I made that appointment. Not only are they helping Covid long haulers like me, they're doing important research to study exactly what Covid does to people. In a sense, I'm glad I'll be a part of their research.
The main things that have stayed with me since recovering from Covid are my runny nose, the intensity of my migraines have increased, my vision gets so blurry at times I can't see, & my fatigue. That brain fog that I had for 7 months went away & I was grateful for that.
March will be a whole year since my first Covid symptom. Any one that tells you that Covid does nothing to you is wrong. There are many stories like mine. One of my close friends still struggles too & lost a lot of her hair. I think it was that particular Covid strain from March.
The Covid long haulers that I know were sick in March/April & we all had symptoms that mirrored each other so that's why I think it was something about that strain & I really wish there was more of a focus on the sequencing of the virus so they could see the correlation.
