One of the most powerful things allies can do is use their vote, not for their own (perceived) economic benefit (LNP are actually terrible economically despite rhetoric to contrary), but for the human rights of others. So I will remind you of the records of the people elected.
The Prime Minister has woeful personal ethics, taking pride in denying asylum to those seeking it instead locking them up and committing human rights atrocities. He also showed three days ago he believes in maintaining paternalism and deciding for us - one word and he’s done.
The current deputy leader of the Coalition has a very telling history.
*trigger warning* homophobia
He has since apologised of course.
He also spoke highly of Nigel Scullion’s work in Indigenous Affairs.
Nothing like the perpetual back pats of mediocrity.

Frydenberg’s record speaks for itself during his time as energy and resources minister.
He often pointed to facts that didn’t exist that were contradicted by the report by the Climate Council. Backed a probe against banks who wouldn’t lend to climate destroying corps too.

Peter Dutton is a reprehensible example of power. He has used it to exert will over the most vulnerable. A government with bullies committing human rights atrocities should never be voted for and yet, here we are. Australia must do better than this, the standard you walk past...
From a policy perspective - we have seen paternalism continued with decisions made about us without us. Let’s be clear - Ken Wyatt is not an Indigenous leader or representative of us. He is a Liberal politician. So if he signs off on something, he does so as a Lib.
So decisions continue to be made without us and to our targeted detriment - cashless debit cards. The entrenching of poverty and familial destruction is a direct result of policies enacted by this government and those before them.
Think about it. We have been dispossessed. So ability to live from land in a balanced and cultural way is impossible and heavily regulated by government. So those on country are often forced to work with corporates that benefit from our very destruction.
Or...

Resist. Those that resist, are then forced onto working for less than minimum wage with CDEP, that abysmal income is then quarantined on a government card and used in stores that rip off communities. I am talking $40 for 500g mince, a fortune for milk and forget about veggies.
So not only do policy decisions force people onto welfare, entrenching poverty by forcing work for less than minimum wage, but makes it possible for stores to compound issue by ensuring food is not affordable.
What does the government do when we can’t afford food?

Removed children and destroys families because “neglect.”
These issues are linked causatively to government policies.
Our community issues were not of our own making, but we have the solutions that are ignored in favour of paternalism and victim blaming.

Also remember that services available in metropolitan areas such as food banks, opportunity shops and front line services are not in the communities who experience the worst effects of these government policies.
