The truest observation ever made about what certain parts of the GOP (+Trump) are doing is they think it's all for show and know it won't actually work so "no harm, no foul, no constitutional consequences" and they just gain $$$ and loyalty and engagement.

But they're wrong.

The corrosion is real. Yes, we can talk until the sun sets about how the Democrats have contributed (and at times frankly initiated) this sort of vicious cycle, and we'll probably agree too. But throwing hydrochloric acid onto the civic bonds tying us together has consequences.

I'm tired of "bUT hE fIGhTS!!" being the be-all and end-all excuse for the sort of nonsense Trump is doing. Because it's a gateway drug -- people who say that eventually start talking themselves into insanity, like Hugo Chavez & the Dems stealing the election via time-travel.
