Ok this is for starting the thread, and here's what I'm going with for each day! (The 31st is tbd depending on what comes out this month) https://twitter.com/Vancyon/status/1345202934829690880
Day 1: A MF DOOM Album
Cheating a little bit with this one because I've already heard his entire solo discog, but I had yet to hear any of his past work with KMD! This was surprisingly very good, a lot of fun old-school vibes, I liked it a lot, 7/10.

Day 2: An Album from Sweden
I've actually known about this for years but never heard it in full, a Swedish dance-pop album from the 90s called Drommar. These tracks definitely have a formula to them but it's still really fun if you turn your brain off, 7/10

Day 3: An Album from Your Least Favorite Genre
Country. Specifically mainstream country, I can't stand most of it. But people seem to think Kacey Mustgraves is ok, so I gave Golden Hour a fair shot. And honestly? I kinda liked it. There were a couple great tracks, albeit a--

--little generic at times. It wasn't too twangy which I liked, Kacey has a nice voice that makes me feel good, and it had a pretty nice vibe. When the tracks got a little TOO country was when I wasn't liking it too much. 6/10 tho, great album to drive and think about life to.
Day 4: An Album with Atrocious Cover Art
While not exactly "atrocious," I do find the Daydream Nation cover art pretty ugly. Thankfully the music itself wasn't as bad. It wasn't great, but it was a solid rock album ig. I have literally nothing else to say, 6/10

Day 5: A Video Game Soundtrack
I've never played Jet Set Radio Future but the soundtrack absolutely bangs, I love how funky and choppy everything is, I can really see why so many people love it, especially if you first heard it through the game. 7/10!

Day 6: An Album Made By a Friend
"We Will Fade, Leaving Only Memories For Each Other" another project from the legendary DJ Terezi, aka the only friend I have on Twitter who actually makes music (that I'm aware of, hmu if u make music, I want to hear your stuff!)

I don't really want to rate or review stuff made by people I know but I will say that it was a super solid project with really interesting production, Ellie's style of dark, ambient almost trap-style electronic music is something I'm always down for. I'd give it a good outa good.
Day 7: An Album With Over 20,000 Ratings on RYM
Yep, Illinois. It might've just been how shitty of a day today was mental-health-wise but this was just kinda underwhelming. There were a lot of nice bits for sure, and I could see this grow on me in the future, but rn it's a 6/10

Day 8: A Folk Album
Divorce Lawyers I Shaved My Head by Jordaan Mason, what an icredible folk album, I enjoyed this first time around but I know it's only going to grow on me immensely in the future when I read into the lyrics for sure. I loved this a lot, 8.5/10.

Day 9: An Album from Argentina
Un Dia by Juana Molina, a very mysterious folktronica album. I really like the vibe the project has, the vocals, the melodies, everything had a lot of potential. But I was still left wanting more, there's a lot to be desired from this. 6/10

Day 10: An Album from an Artist You Love
Flood by the legendary metal band Boris! I've loved everything I've heard from them up until this point, and while I do think Flood is quite good, it's not as captivating as the other Boris projects I've heard so far have been. 7/10 tho.

Day 11: An Album Recommended by a Family Member
This was an alt-rock sort of album that my Uncle suggested to me I think back in July of last year? Well I finally got around to it and it was kinda alright, there were things I liked but overall it wasn't so much my thing. 4-5/10

Yes I know it's day 13 but we got behind because I have depression ok, we're making our way back.
Day 12: A Musical Soundtrack
Da Beatles. Magical Mystery Tour. Has some of their best songs but also, like, it's not really all that great overall. These guys made Sgt. Peppers ffs. Light 6/10

Day 13: A Synthpop Album
Burn Pygmalion!!! A Better Guide To Romance by The Scary Jokes, an album I've had on my radar for ages after seeing Prismo talk about it a lot and tbh it was kinda fantastic! I love the vocals, production, everything is really charming and cute, 7-8/10!

Day 14: An Album With Less than 20 ratings on RYM
always on my mind 夏の夜 by「サンセット Network❾❶」, I don't know what's the deal with this cover art but it's actually a p solid vaporwave project! Very traditional in a lot of senses but I liked it, 7/10

WE'RE FINALLY CAUGHT UP UGH, thank god
Day 15: A Musique Concrete Album
Fun fact this is the first thing I've ever heard from Frank Zappa and it was a whole trip, holy shit. It was like the free jazz of 60s rock, but with like, acual free jazz thrown in. I really liked a lot of it, 7.5/10

Day 16: An Album from Nova Scotia
What a pleasant surprise this album was! I honestly just selected this at random from a wikipedia list but I turned out to really enjoy it. Chill, smooth, and romantic songs in French that just make you feel nice. 7-8/10

Day 17: An Album from an Artist You Hate
While I don't exactly "hate" Swans I'm not the biggest fan of them so I just went with TBK because it's been on my list for years. And it honestly wasn't that bad. A lot of it really dragged on but some parts were actually great. 7/10

Day 18: An Album You Keep Putting Off
I ended up going with V:D:C. and it was... ok! Ish! The sounds were cool and there were a lot of great ideas, but there was like... a gaping hole in it, like it's missing some key element. I don't know what it is, but it felt empty. 6/10 ig

Day 19: A Spoken Word Album
Ok so as it turns out only one or two tracks on this album are spoken word songs but regardless of that, it's a really great soul album! I love the lyrics too, very inspiring and insightful. Easy 7/10

Wait ok so aparently Plague Mass is a spoen word album and Pieces of a Man is kinda political/protest-y so maybe just switch the two albums for the prompts lol
Day 20: A Protest Album (or day 19 idk)
This scared the shit out of me. And I loved it. I only understood like half the lyrics and it still completely shook me to my core, I can't wait to relisten to this and actually read what the lyrics are. The vocals on this thing were like-

actually disturbing. I genuinely felt very very uncomfortable listening to this. But I love the way Diamanda Galas paints the AIDS epidemic through her music. Idk what else to say but I just loved it. 9/10. Yeah. Or maybe an 8.9/10. We'll see where my opinion ends up later.
Day 21: An Album With a Poor Average Score
Ok so weirdly enough, this album was really dissapointing to me. Not because I expected it to be good, but because I expected it to be interesting in some way. See, I THOUGHT the reason people hated Dead Petz was because it was loud,-

obnoxious, and hypersexual. Which is a type of music I tend to enjoy, in one way or another. Instead what it ended up being was just a boring, surprisingly mellow, and kinda horny pop record. I wanted this to blow my mind with how bad it was but no. It was just. Boring. 3/10.
Ok maybe a 3 is too harsh, let's say it's a 4/10, I didn't HATE it or anything
Day 22: A Psychedelic Album
Exuma s/t! A very weird and innovative freak folk project from 1970, I listened to all of it in the car today. It was pretty good! Nothing really stuck with me after my first listen but I did enjoy it a lot, 7/10

Day 23: An Album from Uganda
Silina Musango was a very chill, subtle contemporary folk project that just did nothing for me whatsoever. I can tell you that the music is good, sure, it is, but it didn't really make me feel anything, just a bland stream of sound. 5/10

Day 24: An Album from a One Hit Wonder
Perhaps Gotye was a one-hit wonder for a good reason because the only song that's even remotely memorable on this album is his one hit. Don't get me wrong, that song is still incredible, but the rest is just so... uninspired ig. 5/10

Day 25: Re-listen to An Album You Dislike
Tried Dummy again... am I missing something??? Is there like a devastating backstory to the album I'm not aware of, or like lyrics transcendant of all poetry that I'm not hearing??? Because I'm sorry, this is just so unremarkable to me.

Like sure, the vocals are fine, the production is fine, nothing is BAD, I guess I don't really DISLIKE it per say but it's just so instantly forgettable and bland that I can't bring myself to give it any credit for what it does technially well. Maybe I'm just an idiot idk, 5/10.
