Hello! This is going to be an educational thread on the 'Mexican dream' accent that Quackity does. A big mcyt tiktoker who was white/white passing did the accent in multiple of their tiktoks about certain mcyt's in certain situations. I first of all want to preface by+
saying that Quackity is not a Minecraft youtuber. He started his career doing other things and playing other games, not Minecraft. Going into the accent Quackity does: he is doing a cholo accent. This accent is derived from Mexican culture and stereotypes set against our people +
So it is NOT okay if you do this accent while not being Mexican. It is outright disrespectful. This accent is not something you can do or recreate because Quackity does it. Quackity is Mexican so it is okay for him to do the accent. That however is not an open invitation for +
others to do it too. If you find the accent funny, laugh and move on. Going back to the tiktoker who did do the accent, they apologized for their mistakes because people educated them on it. They also included a reminder: do not accept their apology if you are not Mexican. +
If you hear someone do the accent and they are not Mexican educate them. That's it. If you have done the accent not knowing the background behind it, take in count that it was not okay and move on. Thank you :)
