1/ Covid. To some it seems that the threat doesn't impact their lives at all. For them at least, perhaps that's a good thing. For others, hopefully their sometimes gleeful ignorance doesn't cause harm. Or worse.
2/ My wife and I see the threat as very real and have done since the day the nation was put into lockdown. And before.
We know more than a handful that have suffered with C-19. Some of whom have rapidly succumbed to the virus. May they rest in peace.

3/ We've not seen friends. We've not seen family. In person at least.
We often feel guilt for not letting our boys do the things children their age should have the privilege of enjoying. We won't let them put their health or that of others recklessly at risk.

4/ We've spent evenings talking about the 'what ifs'. We've made a spreadsheet with all the details either one of us would need should the other fall ill. Put accounts in joint names.
Just. In. Case.
Just. In. Case.
5/ But as this goes on with no real end in sight. As great-grandparents become more frail. As friends carry on with life and stop calling. And as we sit and watch, via video call, the health of a loved one decline. Knowing we should be there to support. Or just comfort.
6/ I wonder whether those who go on, seemingly without a care in the world. Those who genuinely seem to have no real understanding, or perhaps care, of reality have got it right as they laugh and joke about multiple bubbles or spout misinformation they've read in social media.
7/ We'll carry on doing what we're doing. We'll continue to hope that no more friends are struck with this bastard of a virus. However they've conducted themselves.
We'll hope that we don't live with regret that we didn't get that one last moment with those most important to us.
We'll hope that we don't live with regret that we didn't get that one last moment with those most important to us.
8/ Instead we'll live with hope that we've kept the most vulnerable around us safe and that we can soon see them safely again.
Everyone has their own way of dealing with things. Their own troubles. And we'll not judge those who don't see the risk of this as we do.
