Came across this BS today on instagram... https://twitter.com/ethical_butcher/status/1344940946505551872
"Sadly, simply swapping out beef and pork for nuts and avocado is worse for the environment than simply choosing to eat well raised animals."
False - there are no circumstances where 'well raised' beef contributes to less CO2 emissions than a meat free diet.

'Eating local' is a compelling argument, sure, but you should, as this site suggests, consider the whole life emissions for your food: https://ourworldindata.org/food-choice-vs-eating-local
For many foods, especially beef, but also including chocolate, coffee and cheese, the transport costs are a tiny slice of the overall emissions.
If you care *at all* about eating sustainably, don't eat beef.

I should add that @ethical_butcher cites 'increased soil fertility' and 'Improve whole agro-ecosystems' as the reasons why their meat is somehow sustainable, but includes no references to studies that in anyway back this up. https://ethicalbutcher.co.uk/pages/sustainable-farming
Honestly, is it really anything more than a bougie hello fresh competitor making up 'facts' about the environment to kick start an instagram trend?

The basis of their claim seems to be not from science, but entirely from a TED talk in 2013.............

If they really care about restoring and regenerating land, wait till they find out how much you could restore if people reduced their meat (ESPECIALLY BEEF) consumption:
