At first, one may think it was merely a fun 2v2 compete drill. However, two essential underlining details are being worked on in this drill that transfer to game play: angling and quick transition.
A critical factor in the Devils' ability to play with more pace this season will be their ability to get pucks back from the other team, allowing them to transition quickly to offense.
