Hi Folks- when writing a new episode centered around lesbian moms, I wondered: how should their child address them? There are a lot of good websites out there for help on this ( http://mombian.com  has been very helpful), but there is no hard and fast rule (1/4)
Easiest and most popular in real life solution is two mom variants (ex: mommy, mama) but since this is a podcast, I am concerned this would be confusing. One mom can go by mom in a different language but they may sound similar too (ex: mama for one, madre for other). (2/4)
I am not a lesbian or a woman and I take representation and respect very seriously. I do not want to offend anyone, intentionally or not. My current solution is that the child calls one parent Mama (first name), and the second parent Mommy (first name). (3/4)
Note that we name our characters with very distinct sounding names so this solution would ensure no listener confusion, but I am not willing to do this if it's not genuine or is offensive in any way. If anyone with real life exp would like to weigh in, I'd be very grateful. (4/4)
