This is a totally fair question and the answer will completely vary for different people. For ME, operating ethically and morally in the board gaming industry means... https://twitter.com/NedryCasey/status/1345457017025040384
Do not purchase/promote games that prominently involve entities that have a record of being abusive, racist, misogynistic, anti-LGBTQ, etc.

Can I know about all the problems? No. But once I know - I know. And I need to act accordingly.
Work to be aware of issues in the industry and be selective on who I choose to support based on my threshold for those problems.

The fact is - a lot of junk happens in the open and it's easy to see if you're paying attention. I must work to be informed and ask more questions.
Be conscientious about games that involve cross-cultural representation and research how appropriative concerns have been addressed - or not. When choosing to discuss a game, be upfront about thematic or representative issues with the game.
Research research research. Do not accept "I didn't know" for a misstep if "I didn't try" actually precedes it. We are awash in information availability. Ignorance may be the reason but it's not a hall pass. Intent =/= Impact.
There are SO MANY GOOD GAMES coming out now… there is no reason for me to put money or effort into games that I can't feel great about supporting. I'd much rather work to highlight the folks doing good work who are great people.
Yes, this sometimes means...
- passing on the new hotness
- declining opportunities
- having uncomfortable conversations
- being disliked by peers

But ultimately - so what? No change I care about comes from bolstering the status quo.
