Slutty sonny, an enormous loss of potential

Slutty sonny, real name Jordon Williams, was an underground rapper from Atlanta who started off making music in 2015, but rose to popularity in 2018 with the release of his debut album “+Life of Arachnid & Butterfly+”. With his track arachnid garnering a million Spotify plays.

His sound was Influenced heavily by trap and ambient music, while also blending a unique combination of hip hop, alternative rock and metal. He drew inspiration musically from the late xxxtentacion, causing him to attract “x clone” remarks around the time of X’s death.

Sonny was part of a collective called “vampire cult” whose members include frequent collaborator Kamikaze Kay. He was also incredibly close to Tokyo’s revenge, with the duo combining on “STFU!” .Tokyo’s revenges track “nothinglastsforever”was also dedicated to sonny after he died

His style and sound, often compared and likened to xxxtentacion, was incredibly versatile. Songs like “STREET (JUNKIE)”,”chaos control” and “lost of lust” show that he was very good at just straight rapping, whereas he proved himself to be a very capable singer in tracks such as

... “I don’t care if you like this” and “Fallen Angel11”. Similar to jahseh, he is also accustomed to rapping over highly distorted, high bass production such as in “breaking point” and “Aileen Wuornos”. soundcloud raps influence is also apparent in his use of Shiloh dynasty ...

... type samples such as “love is poison” and “alone for valentines”. Overall, slutty sonny was a very versatile and complete rapper that was blessed with an abundance of untapped potential.

My personal favourite of the three is the latter. With my favourite track off of the project being blind date.

Tragically, sonny was declared to be missing in the august of this year, and on the 31st august it was announced that he had sadly passed. The situation left Tokyo’s revenge in tears on Instagram live, and @killbunkk still honours him in his twitter Avi. Rest in peace Jordon
