Well, since you asked, here's the problem with @TexasFootball (1/several) and why they are stuck in this death loop of "Coach Churn"...
2/... No disputing they are a Blueblood Program and one of the top maybe 5 of all time...over 125 or so years. 900 plus wins (3rd all time); .704 winning percentage (7th all time); 4 national titles not counting the Houlgate-type ones; etc...
3/... Coaching position was relatively stable from 1957 through 2013 aside from the McWilliams/Mackovic decade. 3 guys covered 46 of those 57 years by my count.
Royal: 167 wins; .774; 3 natties
Akers: 86 wins; .731; no natties
Mack: 158 wins; .767; 1 natty

Mack: 158 wins; .767; 1 natty
4/... Blips on the radar were:
McWilliams: 31-26; .544 (fired)
Mackovic: 41-28-2; .592 (fired)
After Mack:
Strong: 16-21; .432 (fired)
Herman: 32-18; .640 (fired)
They actually were a continuation of Mack's last 4 years:
30-21; .588 (nudged out)

5/... So ever since Marcell Dareus blasted the life out of Colt McCoy's golden arm (what a dumb-ass play call), the 'Horns are 78-60 in 11 years by my count. That's a .586 winning clip.
6/... Alabama's aggregate record from 1997 through 2007 (Dubose, Fran, Shula, Saban's first year) by my count was 74-60 or a .552 winning clip.
Texas has just completed 11 years of The Alabama Dark Ages without being hampered with the impact of two cycles of probation sanctions.

7/... Did you realize Texas has won three (3) Big XII titles? First year of the league was 1996 (they won it). Only two since then. Oklahoma has 14. BAY/NEB/KSU 2 each. Others have 4 total.
Remember this the next time you hear Lincoln Riley is dining at Acre.

8/... Texas is annually at the top of those "highest revenue" programs in the country, and second isn't even close. This year's # was $163M, and second was I think OSU at around $135M. Ol' Habersham Poindexter VI doesn't play around with his oil money and losing football.
9/... Lends credence to their legitimate effort to back the Brinks truck up to Nick Saban's garage in 2013 to get back to some level of glory. Money really is / should be no object for them.
10/... They're basically playing in a two-team league, and they aren't holding up their end of the bargain as the second team. By contrast--SEC Championships in the SECCG era:
Bama 9
UF 7
LSU 5
Georgia/Auburn 3
Tennessee 2
Settled Science: The Big XII is a cupcake league.

11/... Texas has 29 million people...that's a lot of high school football talent. Once 5 million more people flee miserable California for Texas, the two will have the same population.
Yet Texas is getting pillaged annually by Alabama, TAM, Oklahoma, LSU for top 'Croots.

12/... And there isn't some silver bullet coach out there with a ten gallon hat ready to "put a fence around the state". Mack did it better than anyone since Royal. Herman damn sure couldn't pull it off.
13/... Is Sark their answer? Among the current suspects, he's their best option. Dynamic offenses, QB development, power run game, etc... Gotta have these to compete in the silly shootouts they have weekly in the Big XII.
14/... Sark would be crazy to turn them down. $3M/yr goes a long way in Tuscaloosa, but the guy in charge isn't moving on for what, five more years?
Ol' Habersham just paid $30Mish to get rid of Herman & Co. and won't have a problem paying $50M over 7 years to the next guy.

15/... But Oklahoma is omnipresent & not going away. Riley's best team yet may be the one he fields next year, and that will just keep the cycle churning.
Even winning at a .770 clip like the two GOAT Texas coaches may not be enough today. That's 11-3 in a 14-game season.

16/... These guys may talk a reasonable game, but their expectation is to compete for the Natty every year. And basically that's a four or five-team league (Bama, Clemson, OU, OSU, UGA, ND-lol) they're nowhere near joining.
17/... And the guys running those five programs, the only ones that would be sure bets of getting UT back on the map, are all making (or soon will be) $7M or more and aren't about to bail out on the machines they have built.
