If you are a Broncos fan and you’ve gone to games at any point over the last six decades, you have Floyd Little to thank. Once upon a time, he saved football in Denver.

Fare thee well to a Broncos legend and an NFL great. https://twitter.com/adamschefter/status/1345452583696084992
The AFL/NFL merger in the 1960s required every team have a stadium with 50K seats. Denver didn’t have that. And Denver voters rejected a bond to pay for upgrades at the Broncos current home, called Denver Bears Stadium. On top of that, the Broncos were bad — really bad.
Enter Floyd Little: A superstar out of Syracuse. He was THE face of the Broncos at a time they needed him. He went door to door to lobby Denverites to support a new stadium. Because of him, the Broncos got the $$. Soon, Bears Stadium was renovated — and became Mile High Stadium.
