Every ancient civilization that is still a current civilization has undergone multiple types of governance. Even those that are 100-500 years old. America is only 250 years old & the form of government we have now isn’t & won’t be everlasting. Democracy isn’t *necessary.
It requires active voters & citizens who share a reality, share laws & processes for the good of the foundation that holds up the basics. It doesn’t demand agreement except in the idea that debate is healthy, disagreements are managed, and differences are accepted. Right now
Tho we have a country split by different realities, different understanding of what democracy means, & what our responsibilities are in not only maintaining it but extending it internally to the full fabric of society. Something America has never done. We are now dependent upon
The *least of us - Black, minority, poor, lower paid, to uphold a country of wealthy folk and government who do not uphold us and who actively work *against us. Our finger is in the hole of the dam and they are pulling our other arm.. to work for them. It’s insidious & harmful
to them and us but we get believe it is only us who are harmed. We are no different than China Egypt Ethiopia India Mongolia Greece or the former Roman and Mayan empires. This land and its people can exist without the “US” in its present form. History proves it the world over. We
Are not exceptional. History proves that, as well. Democracy doesn’t have the “right” to exist. No form of government does, no matter how much any government brainwashes its citizens to believing such nonsense. America isn’t “god” ordained no more than the thousands of other
“god” ordained nations & empires. The far right and far left wish for a form of government that is decidedly not democracy for all people. Their power is in reach fueled by a passive media w/pipelines into every home, & gullible minds who want to be “on top” in any society not
necessarily “democratic” 1 tho they’ll use the tools of *this democracy to achieve their ends. And we will help them by our strict adherence to norms, processes, laws, & because they are our fellow citizens. Fellow citizens who want differently than what America purports to be
How it turns out will be.... interesting, violent, and destructive... or interesting, peaceful, and constructive. It’s undecided right now because we can’t see the future. But we can see the future being built day to day and we see the *wrong future -this entire presidential
Post election nightmare- as one indicator that what is being built is an entirely different form of governance and America. End.
