Better late than never I hope, here are just a few is the opportunities I had last year I am grateful for, amidst everything else.

to be honest it was a tough year for a lot of freelance journalists — but despite a lot of canceled assignments, other doors opened
Getting to witness, let alone get a decent shot of, Comet NEOWISE in July was a personal highlight. Also because I was a lazy high school student In 1997 and missed the last big time there was a great comet
My 2nd resolution for last year was to make a podcast. I’m really proud of this one

Thanks to the team at @citedpodcast (who make @crackdownpod) & encouragement from @garthmullins, I co-hosted & helped research for this 6-part series on opioid use https://bcechoonsubstanceuse.ca/podcast/
On Mar 23, as a pandemic spread, I helped launch a weekday news/talk show on @CoopRadio

Community radio is amazing & I’m proud of our @CFROthepulse interviews—tracing COVID19’s unequal impacts through the lens of our station’s DTES neighbourhood

Here’s that story in English (it‘s been cool seeing snippets of my work appear in big papers from Thailand to Niger, France, India, Philippines, Brazil, Mexico, UK & China—translated into at least 5 languages by my tally) thanks to @AFP’s 1-billion reach https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/1860639/chinatowns-feel-pinch-of-coronavirus
I probably filed many dozens of stories on this seemingly endless legal battle in the Supreme Court of B.C. and Federal Court. The whole world is watching what happens

2020 also saw my first photo published on an international news wire: https://theindependent.sg/canada-resumes-hearings-on-extradition-of-huawei-exec/
And 4 years after being a full-time @TheTyee journalist (before going to report for TorStar) I was excited to return with some bylines in my favourite online magazine. Seriously, subscribe to their newsletters & donate; the writing & editing is top-notch https://thetyee.ca/News/2020/12/16/BC-Connection-India-Farmer-Revolts/
And finally, the 2020 project I enjoyed most was traveling & co-writing with @CaraMcK for a Salish Sea Sentinel mag cover story on Indigenous-led conservation, restoration & leadership:

Thanks for reading, sharing, engaging
It was a tough year. I hope I helped somehow inform, inspire or impact you
