For those new to Headship (and remember there'll be some starting a new job this week!đŸ˜±) you might find the following helpful. Very brief thread, and a copy of the email I have sent to staff tonight. PS...remember, none of us has all the answers..

1. We are luckier than some (secondary setting so weren't expecting students -just V and KW - in next week, and we aren't back until Tuesday). This buys us time. A week is a long time in education (as someone nearly said) so don't think you need a definitive position now

2. The key thing for me is whether the NEU/NASUWT are telling staff not to come in. I am asking them to come in (on Tuesday anyway) when the risk of students isn't there. I think it important that me meet together and we formulate a strategy for the next couple of weeks

3. I think it's important to avoid situations where (with respect) we (HTs) are responding to letters and requests from other unions. We should all be on the same side. Keep staff onside, be brave in decision making (if the DfE isn't flexible). Your union will support you
