Ah. That's what's wrong. An egg-shaped piece of marble is what's wrong. And the marijuana-based removal regime failed to work, you say?
This was, in all seriousness, a major surgical challenge. The object was too large and smooth to be removed from the rectum via the anus. It would not fit through the pelvic opening, and the surgeons felt it was also impossible to remove via the peritoneal cavity. What to do?
In desperation they consulted orthopaedics (!) and an ortho surgeon scrubbed in & divided the pubic symphysis, which was stretched open with a retractor to 4 cm. This gave enough space for the marble egg to be removed through the anus, using obstetric forceps. Phew!
Here is this extraordinary foreign body, measuring 12x8x8 cm. It was a long and complicated surgical procedure but the patient made a full recovery and left hospital 4 days later.
