Gonna say a few things which some people won’t like but it is what it is. Celtic may have won 9IAR and a quadruple treble and I do not wish to downplay any of that. But likewise I’m not going to sit here and pretend the club hasn’t been scandalously mismanaged in that time.
Europe is the obvious starting point. There aren’t many, if any, clubs of our size who are so far out of their depth in European competition. This season especially was a humiliation to say the least but it’s nothing new. No wins in knockout ties since 2004
As for domestic matters, we’ve allowed the Huns to go down to the fourth tier and within just eight years they’re on another level to us now while operating on a much smaller budget. Why is that? Our recruitment strategy, or the lack of one, is shambolic and there is no ambition.
This season was coming. Those of us who aren’t struck by blind faith feared the worst when Lennon was appointed and the board’s incompetence to get in an acceptable standard of manager and even worse continue to back him despite this disaster of a season is unforgivable.
The worst thing about it all is the element of the Celtic fanbase who are willing to accept mediocrity because of the past and accuse critics of being spoiled. Big clubs don’t accept mediocrity and next time you’re trying to argue how massive a club Celtic is, remember that.
