(1/11) I almost never do a Twitter thread but I have been reflecting on the different ways in which people have inspired me in 2020. Here are ten:
(2/11) @DebbiHusbands for doing so much to help myself and others learn about the lived experiences of racism, and providing amazing mentorship to me in my quest to take action against racism
(3/11) @ReicherStephen for offering brilliant insights into the human and social dynamics of COVID, as well as solid evidence-based practical advice, and for speaking out when excellent science is ignored. Ditto @SusanMichie
(4/11) @HelenJNewman for tackling an incredibly challenging time with determination, compassion and a smile, leading the wonderful @ageukbarnet team in supporting and caring for our older neighbours. Thank you Helen!
(5/11) @dibyeshanand for being a compassionate and caring leader, and for continuing to provide effective advocacy for those in less privileged positions. Thank you also to @peter_bonfield for his support.
(6/11) @HelenKnowler for always having a positive and constructive way of looking at life, and for her brilliant work with @CARE2Liberate
(7/11) @jonmsutton for driving forward @psychmag as an authentic forum for debate and discussion, and for not being afraid to put his head above the parapet. I will really miss working with him and the team.
(8/11) @RichmoMusic for not being easily beaten when it comes to finding a safe way for people to sing together during COVID and for continuing to nurture and support young musical talent
(9/11) @repeachey for all she has done to support patients throughout the pandemic and for nevertheless always having a great big smile and spreading sunshine. I am proud to be your friend Rodina! Inspired also by every other member of the @NHSuk
(10/11) @claudiahammond for making me realise there are good empirical reasons for resting a little more in 2021 and that it isn’t lazy. Thanks too to @AlsoFestival for giving us a chance to speak to a live audience at the UK’s only festival this year.
(12/12) And finally, huge thanks to @JeffKnowler for being relentlessly supportive, generous and funny, and for being a very easy person to spend lockdown with.
