The last day or two really has been illuminating. Or should I say depressing

Im a remainer and always have been but a lot of other remainers are accusing me of being a brexiter for not having believed the same false information that so many seem to have latched onto https://twitter.com/TheDogsDinner2/status/1345379719164944388
Ireland did not *reduce* vat on sanitary products under current EU rules. They did it before those rules were implemented. It is not currently - emphasis on currently - possible for any other member state to reduce it to 0%.
Germany did not reduce vat on sanitary products to 0% either. Many people are sharing a headline saying they "scrapped luxury tax" but they havent read the article. If they had they would know this meant moving them from the standard 19% rate to the reduced 7% rate.
7% is, of course, not 0%, despite many remainers bizarrely insisting it is.

All of this is very easily fact-checked, but a lot of people would rather just call me a liar and say Im a brexiter than spend three minutes reading.
The sad punchline is that the EU actually IS planning to change these rules (should happen in 2022) and that's THANKS TO THE UK for bringing it to the EU and pushing for it.

A great example of the influence we had in the EU and of why, amongst many other reasons, I voted remain.
