Keldon Johnson out of Kentucky played so well last night on offense and also clamped on D. 26/10 and some key stops.

The Spurs win again in the scouting & player development departments. Johnson turned 21 in October. This won’t be the last time I bring him up 📝
He had some trouble connecting with Poeltl here but I don’t entirely blame him. Gasol and AD are hard to work around and that was really a good play by AD to spark a fast break opportunity. I’ll show a plus on the next tweet in a similar situation
Slashes here vs. AD/Gasol and although the pass isn’t extremely accurate, Poeltl makes a good adjustment to it and finishes at the rim. Johnson wasn’t asked to do stuff like this a lot at Kentucky and it isn’t a huge part of his game. Development here will be a major advantage
I was gonna show you guys some of his steals but most came off deflections. He’s an active defender with a high motor. Good size for a two-guard and just a little undersized at the three but he plays very hard. Doesn’t back down from a challenge & is always around the ball.
Spot-up shooting was a huge part of his game in college and he shot 38% overall in his one season at Kentucky. His three-point shot is legitimate and is the best part of his game right now, easily. Good form and accurate
He obviously couldn’t care less if AD is within range to contest (I could go on about AD’s defensive versatility all day). Johnson’s confidence was high throughout the game and he cans this three with ease
One more for good measure. LeBron slides over a bit to help and leaves way too much space for Johnson to hit a big shot here. Trez does his best to close out quickly and contest the shot at least a bit but it doesn’t even matter. Johnson was feeling himself at this point
