How I Made Over £5,000 In Sales (First month into E-Commerce & no prior experience)

Here are the top 3 lessons which I learned 👇🏻

~ A Valuable Thread
Just a quick heads up about the numbers above:

- I grossed slightly over £2,000
- This was my first ever product test
- This was my first time running FB ads
- I was running at a low scale (Sales could have been much more)
- Conversion rate of about 2.5%
Lesson One - Product Selection

I decided to go with a niche store (Fitness/Health niche)

When selecting my products, there is a "criteria" which I follow:

- HAS to have good margins
- Has to be in demand
- Either solves a problem or is in a passionate niche
If you're struggling with product selection:

I typically use FB ad spy apps

Here is a good one:

Tip: Use these tools and then validate the product with Amazon, Google Trends, Aliexpress orders etc
Still, struggling?

Either:

- Use TikTok
- Use Aliexpress Dropshipping Centre
- Use freelancers for product research
- Find a problem and see which products are available
Lesson Two - Optimising Your Landing Page

Your product page is equally as important as your ads

It's your last opportunity to convert traffic

- Have a compelling product description
- Use engaging images/gifs in description
- Use unique product images
- STRONG CTA
To build credibility, you need to have all pages

- About Us
- Contact Us
- All of your policies

To build that "branding feel"; Keep your branding consistent. Colours, texts, ideas etc

Apps:

- Loox
- Oberlo
- Klaviyo
- Sweet Upsell
- SMSBump
Lesson Three - Marketing Your Product

FB ads are the most conventional. I went with this medium.

I went with £10 adsets (ABO) and one interest per adset

I tested 5 different interests and just let these run for 2-3 days (Every day I would see metrics)
How did I scale/stop these adsets?

Seeing if they got any Add to carts, checkouts or purchases...

If an adset didn't show promise after 2-3 days; I would kill it.

Tip: KEEP TESTING NEW AUDIENCES
The aim of this phase is to collect data, data and more data.

We are aiming to get to the lookalike testing ASAP.

I personally start with upper-funnel lookalikes (You'll have more data)

- Page View
- View Content
- Video View
- FB engagement (TEST THIS)
- Add To Cart
For these lookalikes, I typically wait for around 500 events.

For these upper-funnel lookalikes, you will need much more data, however.

For lower-funnel lookalikes, aim for 500-1000 events.

Lookalikes are where the £££ is made!
Some More Gems For You: 💎

- Don't neglect Email Marketing (Brought me 15-20% of my sales)
- In order to learn E-commerce, you need to learn copywriting, digital marketing and consumer psychology
- ALWAYS TEST
- Don't be afraid to scale high (My regret)
Yes, I know...

I probably missed A LOT
