Bit rusty after my writing break but so glad I took one. This year is full of Shiny New Things. Starting with coming up with an idea for a new picture book series with a South Asian protagonist Because we can do super fun adventures too

I’m so proud of the little girl @creative_dy and I created (and our ambitious feminist dinosaurs)! Just girls who love to have fun and dream big That’s it. Every child gets to do that and see children around them do it too! More to come very soon!

I write issues-based books too (like the ones I’ve made with @annabeltempest!). We take the reader around the world. I love these books and I love hearing young readers say they see themselves in these pages...

BUT there’s a special kind of magic when an editor says yes to putting a character like this little girl or a South Asian protagonist in a properly commercial piece of fiction. It says we get to play in that field too. That we exist. And we exist in all kinds of stories.
