in this community there is a big value given to foreverhoming, many of us (myself included) had a goal of getting our toyhouses to be stable - a group of ocs we were content with forever

even to the point of feeling guilty about selling ocs i no longer vibed with, or keeping them for the sake of them having once been mains, or that i told everyone they were never leaving
and projecting this onto others too! thinking that people who sell ocs rather than keep them-

are somehow worse owners than ones who have a small group they keep constant
its ONLY just occurred to me after all this time that not everyone should hold this ideology that keeping an oc is better than selling it. for some, sure. if thats u then no shade. BUT the community-

puts the same pressure on all of us. foreverhoming is the goal.
for me, from now on, i wont set out to make every oc i own a permanent fixture. yes ill love every one and hope that they do stick around. but im gonna start seeing them not as a collection but as a source of insp-

as long as they inspire me, they'll stay. when i run out of ideas, and no longer feel that spark when i look at them, im going to try to let them go without any guilt - so they can offer that amazing source of inspiration, that only a new oc can bring, to someone else.
my toyhouse is going to become my new inspiration board! i am excited to look there and feel the urge to draw, rather than feeling bad about not drawing the old ones i no longer use. for some of us (maybe u?) the healthiest TH is one that's constantly moving on, growing as we do.
