another thought on FTV stuff. in an ideal situation our socialist electeds would b in a party of their own and in scenarios like this would negotiate w/ the Dems over conditions to give their support to a coalition government, maybe a floor vote would be won out of those 1/
negotiations, or maybe something else. the terms we negotiate from wouldn’t just be determined by the electeds but by the electeds in discussion with the democratically elected party leadership. we don’t have this at all right now. the second best situation to that 2/
is one where our electeds are technically in the dem party but organize themselves into a party-like bloc and do all those same things i mentioned before re negotiation. we don’t even have that either nationally. in NY we do have that with our dsa state gov electeds. 3/
and as a proponent of the dirty break i think in most states and nationally getting to that second scenario is a necessary precondition for breaking with the dem party. so our main tasks must be to build organization and relationships with our electeds that is party-like 4/
there are a few examples of this in the US so far — the richmond progressive alliance in california (read here: https://socialistcall.com/2020/11/20/how-the-richmond-progressive-alliance-organized-for-victory/) or nyc dsa in their relationship to state + city candidates. nationally our party-building work is hampered by DSA’s NEC not given the 5/
resources it needs and de facto being a mainly volunteer operation. relating this back to AOC and FTV, AOC is really good but completely detached from any party-like org so acts independently. this makes sense to an extent bc there isn’t any national party-like org yet 6/
this doesn’t make her bad or a traitor but it means that we have a lot more work to do to get there, and yelling at her on twitter abt a tactical disagreement isn’t the way to get there. /
