Let me tell u about Hari singh High street and adjoing SaraiBala (SariyeBal-iconic Naaz Cinema a landmark) HSHS is a commercial hub, having PanchMukhi Hanuman temple adjacent.

JaiRamDasGyanChand booksellers, Malhotra stores, And some KP-Bohur owned (KP subject which deals in grocery business) rest are all well mainly jewellery stores. This place once used to have many KP Business houses like Naya Kashmir Hotel, Choncha (BaZaz) jewellery, Steel Sons.. 5
1 or 2 more KP jewellery shops but now all of them r the relics of past, existing KP shop is Dhar Medicoes which is till being run by KP family.

The early disturbances of 1987 elections were allegedly manages from there. It's place where from Azad's in-laws used to live.... And yes the Rubiya saeed kidnapping many believe was hatched at this place.... The lanes there still have Khatri shops... 7

When wadhama massacre or Nandimarg massacre took place where KPs were rounded up and killed even toddlers were not spared by KM Jehadis... The role of local police establishment was dubious the security persons were missing or they just facilitated killings. What happened... 9
To those personnel of security forces (some were arrested/enquires initiated) no one knows as no enquiry was made public...this saga continues... A year+ back @rahulpandita also shared a thread or wrote a thread about threats&harassment of KPs who got Jobs under PM Package ...10
Rhetoric aside, it's very difficult for a Non Moslem to live safely in kashmir. One has to bow, keep a very low profile, if he is living there.
