Gintoki-Takasugi dynamics is my favorite in all of animanga. Also, Takasugi is my favorite Antagonist of all time. #gintamaan (major spoilers until the end).

Why? I've had always adored the ‘different sides of the same coin,’ the polar-opposite character dynamics. #gintamaan

These kind of dynamics may not begin from the same point, it's the different circumstances that builds up our characters & why they follow a certain philosophy. And so in most cases, it's easy to have a bias for one side over the side, generally the protagonist's side lol.

BUT this is where Gintama differs & excels. The starting point, the development in the difference of idealogies starts from the very same point - the same situation. Which gives birth to the greatest dynamics, Gintoki-Takasugi. You completely understand both of their Philosophies

You completely sympathize with both of their choices. You simply can't just side with one of them. Gintoki here encapsulates one of the main theme of the series (to overcome past traumas & to continue to live for the things you still have to protect) whereas Takasugi opposes it.

To sum up, Takasugi's character arc as an antagonist is tragic & greatly written since he goes against every message of the show whilst also reminding us this is what Gintoki, our Protagonist, could've been if their places were switched. #gintamaan

For some people, maybe, post-SA Takasugi might not be as engaging as before. But for me his character is the most interesting after FS. His characterization & dynamic with Gintoki only improves & get better until the very of the series. #gintamaan
