KATIE FRAWLEY WAS A NEWMARKET WOMAN WHO NURSED INJURED SOLDIERS IN WW1 AND GOT THEM TO SIGN AUTOGRAPHS IN HER BOOK. It's a remarkable document with far more than just signatures; Drawings, jokes, limericks and original poetry. Some of these men had fought in France, at Gallipoli
and in Mesopotamia; but they all wound up under Katie's care, whether in England, on a Hospital Ship or at Cumballa War Hospital in India. Fresh from the frontline and confined to their beds suffering from shellshock, disease and amputation. The standard of their drawing is
amazing but what really connects is the poetry. Simple, raw and unpretentious, these were men grieving for some dead friend they'd left behind. For more info check out https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=241504030932858&id=108794634203799
