I’ve been looking into sim racing hardware a lot recently and spoken to a lot of different users of them and I just wanted to share some thoughts and recommendations in this thread.
A lot of people ask what they should get when they are just starting simracing. It depends on the budget but I think the @TMThrustmaster T300RS is an amazing entry wheel for the price. It’s a belt driven FFB wheel that will last you until the move to a direct drive is possible.
Pedals are probably the most important part of your simulator and as such should be the first thing to upgrade when possible. Coming from entry level to mid level I think the @fanatec Clubsport V3s with the brake performance kit can be my recommendation. BPK is super important.
Another thing to note is that I don’t see much if any benefit in upgrading the previously mentioned T300 to anything else but a direct drive solution. The other belt drivens, in my opinion, aren’t worth the extra money when it can be used to save for a DD wheel.
Direct Drive Wheels. Now these have become amazingly popular in 2020 and with good reason. When it comes to breaking into the direct drive wheels I really am amazed by the @realVRS Direct Force Pro. To create that quality package with a Mige motor for $799 is incredible
The aforementioned Fanatec pedals are fantastic at any level but if you want to go that extra step I cannot recommend highly enough the @HeusinkveldEng Sprint Pedals. The build quality, strength and driving feeling is second to none.
A critical part that I haven’t mentioned yet is the rig. Now I absolutely recommend building your own with aluminium profiles. With some research on the internet and reaching out on some simracing forums you can get all the support to build a very high quality rig for under 400€
If you don’t want to go this route then I would recommend you look into the @SweRigDesign Pro Bundle
“This is the only piece of hardware that can objectively make you faster” - Screens! Whatever your brand preference make sure you get 144hz or more. I personally bought ASUS VG279Q
In terms of wheels you still can’t go wrong with @Simucube and Ascher Racing’s wireless solution - however I have heard of and experienced some connection issues in races but this absolutely could be an outlier
Speaking of wheels @gomezsimracing has been a breakthrough startup of 2020 - their Elite formula wheel is one of the best looking on the market and has had fantastic feedback from all that have bought it. One thing I would love to see is a funky switch in reach of a thumb.

Other awesome picks from this year are Sim Magics GT4 Carbon that recently had a great review from Sim Racing Garage and also Sim Racing Bays GT3 wheel built with Ascher components
So to summarise this thread. Start out with a @TMThrustmaster T300, upgrade pedals to @fanatec V3s with BPK next. If you want to go to DD eventually, build your own alu profile rig. When you can save enough for a DD go with the @realVRS DFP. Make sure to get screens at 144+Hz
